“With the application of data science, insurers will become more efficient.”
Last Thursday Rebeca Jiménez, Chief Data Officer at Wenalyze, was the protagonist of the webinar “What does data science bring to the insurance industry?”. Jimenez talked to us about her day to day and how data science can help both insurers and their customers.
In this Webinar, which is part of the series of interviews with Wenalyze members, Jiménez explains that his role within the Spanish startup is to “analyze and process the data that we receive from insurers” with the aim of “creating indicators that are useful for insurers and their clients”.
Wenalyze’s CDO also wanted to give some examples of these indicators, such as the BCR “which indicates the possibility of business continuity in the future”.
Jiménez commented that what most strikes him about the data he receives from the insurance companies is that “they are very outdated and not very accurate. That is to say, sometimes there are companies that do not exist, or are incorrectly named, for example”. Although he also clarified that “little by little the insurance sector is giving more importance to the data”.
“I believe that, with the application of this technology, data science, insurers will be much more efficient” because “they will be able to give premiums that are more tailored to the needs of their customers.”
